Aleksandar Saša Trajkovski is a renowned physician, poet, translator, and interpreter whose career spans different fields. Born and raised in Bitola, North Macedonia, Trajkovski has made significant contributions as an oncologist and radiologist while simultaneously forging a prominent path in literary circles as a poet and translator.

Aleksandar was born on March 28, 1985, in Bitola, North Macedonia. From a young age, he showed a keen interest in the sciences and the arts, a duality that would define his career. His formal education began at OU Goce Delchev Elementary School, where he was recognized for his academic aptitude. He later attended Josip Broz Tito High School, where he pursued a curriculum enriched with science and arts subjects, setting a firm foundation for his interests.
After graduating from high school, Trajkovski enrolled at the University of Skopje, initially focusing on medical sciences. His thirst for knowledge and broader perspective led him to Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, where he expanded his expertise in medicine while also indulging in the rich literary culture of the region.
Upon completing his medical studies, Aleksandar Trajkovski returned to his hometown of Bitola and began his professional career at the Dr. Trifun Panovski Hospital. Specializing in oncology and radiology, he quickly became an integral part of the medical community, dedicating himself to diagnosing and treating various types of cancer.
Trajkovski utilized advanced imaging techniques to monitor treatment effectiveness, contributing significantly to the field. Beyond his clinical duties, he was deeply involved in local healthcare initiatives, participating in seminars and workshops aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare services in North Macedonia. Trajkovski is also affiliated with “Poetska Harfa Skopje,” a renowned association of poets and writers in Macedonia.
His poetry, characterized by its lyrical depth and cultural reflection, has been published in various journals and anthologies and translated into over ten languages. Moreover, his role as a translator has enabled him to bridge cultural divides, particularly between Romanian and Macedonian literary traditions, enhancing cultural exchange and understanding through his translations of prose and poetry.
Aleksandar literary composition is marked by an introspective exploration of personal and cultural themes specific to the Balkan experience. His prominent works include “Lyrical Elegies,” “Anatomy of Poetry,” “Different Worlds,” and “Poems from the Balkans,” all of which have been published by Data Pesnopoj, the oldest publishing house in Bitola. His poetry often delves into the complexities of human emotion and the nuanced interplay of history and identity in the Balkan region.
In 2023, he introduced “Balkan Haiku—Harakiri,” a pioneering collection that blends the succinct and poignant style of Japanese haiku with Balkan thematic elements, highlighting his innovative approach to poetry. This work, published by the Association for Literary Development “New Babylon” in Bitola, has been translated into more than five languages, emphasizing its international appeal and the universal resonance of its themes.
Beyond his accomplishments as a poet, Aleksandar has established a significant reputation as a translator, particularly focusing on Romanian and Macedonian literary works. His proficiency in Romanian, acquired during his medical studies in Bucharest, has enabled him to translate a wide range of literary content, including notable works by Romanian authors.
